Mary A. Cosmo serves a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) in the St. Louis County Juvenile and Family Court as Appointed Child Counsel, Appointed Child GAL, and Appointed Parent Counsel. Mrs. Cosmo is also available for private GAL appointments in family law matters in the St. Louis area and may provide a sliding scale rate based on income, for those who qualify. Mary A. Cosmo also serves as an Appointed Appellant Counsel in Termination for Parental Rights cases.
Not many attorneys can say they wrote the book on custody, but Mary A. Cosmo literally wrote the book on custody. Mrs. Cosmo is a contributing author for the Missouri CLE Desk Book 2025, Chapter 8 Custody. After practicing in Family Law and Guardianship litigation for 10 years in Florida, Mary relocated to be close to family in Missouri. Mrs. Cosmo was admitted to Missouri bar 2023.
Mrs. Cosmo has served as an adjunct professor at Hodges University, Naples, Florida, and is the author of How to Agree to Disagree, Respectfully, a guide to communicating with difficult people and topics, © 2022. She was also licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families as a Licensed Foster Parent and participated in Lee County Teen Court as coach and rotating judge.
Other affiliations include Joyful Notes Chorus; St Louis County Bar Association 2023; Lee County Bar Member 2013-2020; Hodges University Alumni Advisory Council 2014 (Past President); Florida Association of Woman Lawyers 2013-2018; and 4-H Advocacy Club, Hendry County 2012-13.
Mrs. Cosmo is also an artist and musician. When she is not in court or writing she may be in her studio painting with mixed mediums or creating uplifting worship music. Check out Mary A.
